Property from a Savannah, GA Collector(NY/WI, CT, 1905-1984), Rooftops, engraving, 1941, signed, dated and annotated 'Ed. 100' in pencil, matted and framed. Frame size: 12 1/4 in. x 16 1/4 in. Size of plate: H. 4 3/4 in. x W. 8 3/4 in. Armin Landeck studied architecture and settled in New York where he founded an engraving workshop. His prints express the harsh character of the New York landscape in the Depression of the 1930s, and the dark years of the 1940s. His work is in collections such as the Ackland Art Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, the Georgia Museum of Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Milwaukee Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Spencer Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Swedish National Museum, and the Kaiser Museum of Berlin.
