Description:

Anne Taylor Nash (Savannah, 1884-1968), Portrait of a Gentleman with Hound Dog, Oil on Canvas, unsigned, depicting a seated gentlemen in tie and brown coat with hound dog against a light blue background, in a wood frame. Frame size: 33 1/2 in. x 27 1/2 in.

John Duncan purchased remainder of artists works from their estate in 2005.

Anne Taylor Nash did not begin painting seriously until, the age of 40, when her friend and fellow artist Elizabeth O’Neill Verner encouraged her to take up the brush. She studied in Charleston before moving to Savannah where she lived and painted for the rest of her life. She exhibited at the Telfair Academy with the Savannah Art Club at least ten times between 1931 and 1958. In 2015, the Telfair held the first solo exhibition of her work since an exhibition of her portraits at the Gibbes in 1933.
