Amos Ferguson was a Bahamian folk artist known for his colorful paintings of island life and Bible stories. A house painter by trade, Ferguson did not turn his talents to more artistic endeavors until he was in his 40s. He began exhibiting in 1972 and his US debut was at the Wadsworth Atheneum in 1985. His outsider art can be found in many private and public collections in the Bahamas and the United States.
