Description:

After Giovanni Francesco Romanelli (Italian, 1610-1662), The Cumaean Sibyl, Oil on Canvas Laid on Board, unsigned, a copy after a alte 17th century painting (currently in the Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte, Naples) with old Sotheby's label on verso from sale 4636 Lot 72 that took place June 5, 1981 where the lot was listed as 'Manner of Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, called Guercino,' by 'Wendler' at $600-800, and sold for $700, depicting a woman with book leaning on a pedestal, in a giltwood frame, the current owner surmised that it could be a work by Abbey Altson. Frame size: 46 in. x 36 1/2 in.

Measurements: Height: by sight 36 in. x Width: 26 1/2 in.

Condition:

Overall good condition, craquelure, in need of cleaning, areas of inpainting in clothes, and along bottom edge, losses and wear to frame.
