Description:

8 Chinese Paintings on Silk of Market Scenes, 18th/19th Century, a group of paintings on silk depicting various figures at work in market scenes, one white silk with blue silk ribbon borders, handwritten titles on back, including a 'Barber' (small losses to corners, tear from bottom lower right), a 'Crabman' (multiple tears throughout, one in silk at top and through figures face, one repaired on top left corner, one through the left baskets, and in pant leg, stain spot on lower right corner), 'Gold Gish' (tear in lower right corner, some foxing, discoloration to top of silk), 'Sweet Cakes' (repaired vertical tear top to bottom, foxing, discoloration, and loss to top right corner), 'Selling Pork' (loss to right corners, tear from top, repaired tear to lower left corner, some spots of staining), 'Meat Man' (significant discoloration to silk, small loss to lower right corner, ribbon with repaired tear), 'Selling Fruit' (with repaired rip through left basket and ripping in top right corner), and 'Selling Porcelain' (some small losses to silk and light foxing), all in bamboo-form giltwood frames, frame size 13 3/8 in. x 10 1/8 in.

Measurements: Height: by sight, 12 3/8 in. x Width: 9 1/8 in.

Condition:

Overall fair condition, with various losses and tears to silk, silk wavy in frames, and wear to gilt, see description.
