Frame size: 16 1/2 in. x 20 5/8 in. Provenance: purchased in 2000 from Sotheby's Amazon Property from the T. Marshall Hahn Jr. Collection, Sold to Benefit the High Museum of Art 'Often referred to as "the black Grandma Moses," Clementine Hunter painted four to five thousand paintings, which were boldly colored images in folk art style of plantation life in Louisiana. Her subjects included everyday activities such as doing laundry and festive events including weddings, dances, and church going.' (Askart.com)
