Lamar Dodd (GA, 1909-1996), Gorge: Eve, Watercolor on Paper, 1971, signed and dated lower right, matted and framed. Frame size: 30 5/8 in. x 38 1/2 in.
Lamar Dodd studied at the Art Students League with leaders of the Ashcan School. An exceptional teacher himself, he served as the Chairman of the art department at the University of Georgia (now The Lamar Dodd School of Art) from 1939 until he retired in 1972. His work is included in numerous museum permanent collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Gallery of Art and the High Museum.
