Beki was born in Savannah Georgia, to Greek immigrants; Peter and Marika Leopold. They lived above the ice cream store they owned and operated along with her two uncles; George and Basil. The store, Leopold’s Ice Cream, was opened in 1919, is still in operation, and considered a Savannah tradition by locals and tourists alike. She met and married her husband at UGA, they traveled and lived abroad and throughout the states for her husband’s employment (US ambassador and dept. of Labor), Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Hong Kong, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Georgia. Her painting’s motifs reflect her many years abroad. Beki graduated from UGA with a BFA degree and continued her training at the Arts Student League in NY.
