Leon Cogniet (French, 1794-1880), George Washington, Hand Colored Engraving, c. 1839, engraved by Jean Nicolas Laugier in New York in 1839. It is based on Gilbert Stuart's chest-up portrait of Washington, and is one of a very few head-to-toe depictions of the first president, with label from Closson Galleries, Cincinnati on the back. Frame size: 32 1/2 in. x 26 3/8 in.
