Property from a Private Collector, Savannah, GA Hattie Saussy (Savannah, 1890-1978), Fountain in Forsyth Park, Savannah, Oil on Board, signed lower left, depicting Forsyth fountain with a child feeding pigeons and other figures in foreground, framed. Frame size: 30 1/2 in. height x 34 in. width. At a young age, Hattie Saussy frequented the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences in Savannah and was particularly influenced by its fine collection of French and American impressionist works. In the early 1900’s, she studied at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (now the Parsons School of Design), the National Academy of Design as well as under Eugene E. Speicher at the Art Students League and Adolphe W. Blondeim in Savannah, who had studied with William Merritt Chase. Later in her life, Saussy traveled and painted extensively in the Carolinas and north Georgia.(Askart.com/Charleston Renaissance Gallery)
