Description:

4 Japanese Woodblock Prints Including Utagawa Kunisada, comprising Utagawa Kunisada, 'Shelter from the Rain, Encounters on the Road at New Year', signed and marked lower right, sheet size: 14 3/8 in. x 9 7/8 in. (trimmed, small repairs along left edge, wear and small tears to edges, toning, foxing, faded, mounted along top edge); Utagawa Kunisada, 'No. 31, Actor Bando Mitsugoro IV as Oboshi Yuranosuke...' from the series 'The Life of Oboshi the Loyal', with pencil inscription on mat 'circa 1847-1848 (censor seals),Yoshimora & Muramatsu' sheet size: 14 3/8 in. x 9 3/4 in. (trimmed, wear and losses to edges, particularly in bottom right corner, laid down, repairs to edges, toning, faded, creases, particularly in edges); and an unknown print with figures in blue robes with swords, marked upper edge, with pencil inscription on mat 'printing effect, Shomenzuri (black, black & tusk), sheet size: 11 1/4 in. x 9 in. (trimmed, toning, wear to edges, small repairs throughout, wear to edges, tape reinforcement along bottom edge, mounted along top edge, stain bottom right corner, lightly faded), all matted and unframed.

Measurements: Height: of larger mats 19 in. x Width: 14 1/4 in.
