Description:
4 Similar Chinese K'ossu Silk Framed Chair Covers, Late 18th Century, each k'ossu silk chair cover with hand coloring depicting a pair of pheasants that sit on rocks by a peony tree. Below is a roundel with gourds amongst butterflies, above a pair of cranes surrounded by peaches, a pavilion on clouds and rolling waves. The top with a bat carrying a musical stone, surrounded by peonies, all against a gold background with a blue underline geometric pattern interspersed with peonies decorative border. Two panels approximately 47 in. x 21 1/2 in., two panels approximately 65 in. x 20 1/2 in. Each frame: 76 in. x 29 5/8 in. Provenance: Teresa Coleman Fine Arts, LTD., Wyndham Street, Hong Kong, 10/15/97, with invoice (paid US $45,270) and certificate of Antiquity from Teresa Colmean Fine Arts Ltd.
