Description:
2 Pieces of Scrimshaw and a NY Powder Horn, 18th/19th C, comprising a carved piece of scrimshaw depicting a three masted American ship engraved 'Freedom' (4 3/4 in. x 2 1/2 in., with sharpie mark on back 'C.B.N.'), a slightly smaller piece of scrimshaw depicting a three masted clipper ship (5 1/2 in. x 1 3/4 in.), and a powder horn engraved with a map of upstate New York featuring Lake Ontario, Fort Ticonderoga, Niagara, Fort Bruinton, Sant Lorance River Fort Onterio, Lake George, Crown Point, among others and signed 'Wm. P. Colvin, his horn, 1782 A.D.' (6 1/2 in. x 1 3/4 in.)Measurements: Length: of largest scrimshaw 4 3/4 in. x Width: 2 1/2 in.
Condition:
Overall good condition, some cracks and small chips to scrimshaws, particularly on the ends, minor wear and yellowing to horn.
